35A. "The Midget Theatre" 1926 State Fair Era: 1916-1930 Publisher: George Gibbs |
One of the Morris & Castle Shows at the 1926 Fair was “The Midget Theatre” consisting of “five little midgets assembled from all parts of the globe, all performers, entertainers, singers, musicians, or dancers.” Two of them were Mrs. Doefler and daughter Angeline, billed as “the world’s only living midget mother and daughter.” The mother was 54 years old, 26 inches tall, and the daughter was 25 years old, 28 inches tall.
