214. 1909 US Army Tournament ~ Lt Douglas MacArthur

Lieutenant Douglas MacArthur (in white shirt) oversees his troops setting a world record of 3 minutes 43 seconds to erect a spar bridge, pass over it while under attack, and demolish it. In 1908, when MacArthur became commander of Company K, Third Battalion Engineers, at Fort Leavenworth Kansas, it was rated lowest of twenty-one companies. Under his command, Company K became first! MacArthur later became WWII Supreme Allied Commander, and a Five-Star General.
