31. Livestock Pavilion~Dunkers Bicentennial~June 1908 Era: 1908-1915 Publisher: Anonymous |
Dunker's Bicentennial held at the Iowa State Fairgrounds June 1908. Opening session was on June 3. June 6 was Social Saturday, then Spiritual Sunday and Missionary Monday. The business and legislation meetings were on Tuesday and Wednesday June 9-10. Among other things, the name of the Church was changed from the German Baptist Brethren, to the Church of the Brethren. The postcard publisher called this building the "Tabernacle", probably because it was used as the place of worship for the Dunkers. However, during the fair it is called the Stock Pavilion (Source: The Des Moines Register & Leader, June 4-11, 1908) |
